Ⅱ.Nature and task of the course

《Internal combustion engine structure》 is a professional basic course, which is a required pilot course for thermal energy and power engineering majors. This course combines professional features to explain the structure of Marine diesel engine.The course is designed to enable students to master the basic structure and working principle of internal combustion engine, especially Marine diesel engine.

Ⅲ. Basic requirements for teaching

1.Have a good understanding of common power equipment and grasp the meaning of the concept of internal combustion engine;

2.Master the basic terms and working principle of diesel engine, be familiar with and can draw the indicator diagram of four-stroke diesel engine;

3.Master the diesel engine dynamic performance index, economic performance index, shape, weight and size index and emission indexes.

4.Understan the structure types and characteristics of various diesel engine parts, such as moving parts, fixed parts, air distribution mechanism, governor, etc.

5.Master the composition and functional characteristics of diesel engine systems, such as fuel system, lubricating system, cooling system, and booster and starter system;

6.On the basis of teaching relevant structural knowledge, students should be inspired to take the initiative to participate in the teaching process, so that they should not only know what they are, but also know what they are.

Ⅳ. Course content and class time distribution

Chapter 1 introduction

The basic concept of internal combustion engine, the brief history, current situation and development trend of internal combustion engine, the application of internal combustion engine in various fields, the layout of internal combustion engine on ships, and the basic types and characteristics of special power equipment.

Chapter 2 operating principle of internal combustion engine

Basic structure main nouns, working principle of four-stroke diesel engine, working principle of four-stroke gasoline engine, working principle of two-stroke diesel engine, working principle of two-stroke gasoline engine, characteristics of pressurized diesel engine, firing sequence of multi-cylinder engine, classification of internal combustion engine.

Chapter 3 - main technical indexes of internal combustion engine

Power performance index, economy index, shape size and weight index, exhaust pollution index.

Chapter 4 - motor parts

Introduction (including force analysis of moving parts);The piston group mainly includes piston, piston ring, piston pin, and the piston is divided into integral piston, oil cooled piston and combined piston.Connecting rod group, including connecting rod body, connecting rod cover, connecting rod bolt, connecting rod bearing shell;Crankshaft, including crankshaft function, working conditions, materials, components, structure of each part, classification, torsional vibration and vibration damper.

Chapter 5 - fixed parts

The function, classification and structure of fixed parts are divided into cylinder sleeve, cylinder cover, body and machine stand.

Chapter 6 - air distribution mechanism

Overview: composition and transmission of the air distribution mechanism, composition and parts of the air valve type air distribution mechanism, air distribution phase and air valve clearance.

Chapter 7 - diesel fuel system

Composition and function of fuel system, oil pump, filter, fuel pump, oil outlet valve and fuel injector (including pump - fuel injector), various types and features of combustion chamber.

Chapter 8 - governor

Function, classification and structure of the governor, classification, typical structure and working principle of mechanical governor, working principle of hydraulic governor, working principle of electronic governor and working index of governor.

Chapter 9 - internal combustion engine pressurization system

The basic concept of supercharging of internal combustion engine, the structure and working principle of volumetric compressor, the working principle of centrifugal compressor, the basic principle of turbine, turbocharger.

Chapter 10 - lubrication system

Lubrication method of internal combustion engine, lubricating system of internal combustion engine, lubricating system of typical diesel engine, main components in lubricating system, performance index of lubricating oil.

Chapter 11 - cooling system

Composition and classification of cooling system, main components of cooling system.

Chapter 12 - start system

Electric starter, compressed air starting system, measures to improve starting.

V. Teaching methods and means

Based on this course, a multimedia courseware production team is set up to develop and make the 《internal combustion engine structure》 courseware in the form of extracurricular activities. The completed courseware can be used in multimedia teaching.
